Laura, it’s so true that things slip off track… There are only so many things we can be intentional about stewarding and overseeing well. Re-calibrating seems like it’s forever necessary. And yes, Melanie, earlier makes things easier I think (at least I’m hoping!)

What timing. I just sat down last night to create (actually, re-institute with clarity!) a system to get our family’s routines back on track. Things have a way of “slipping” off track slowly, don’t they? Each of us” turns to our own way” if given the opportunity. We have a godly responsibility to keep our family’s eyes pointed heaven-ward. Thank you for the reminder!

Love this! Carrying one’s own load, being diligent, doing things wholeheartedly for the Lord all valuable things for our children to learn and practice! Thank you for your inspiration and tips as to how to go about this! I’m all for the opposite of “slack habits and sloppy work” Wish I had been better about this when they were younger as it’s harder to retrain!

I haven’t seen the movie, but strangely, this description makes me want to rent it. I though it was about car chases…silly me. But, I think that it is VERY important to make an effort to really spend time with our children. Many parents struggle with having enough time- but really it comes down to choices about HOW they spend their time. Something that wise Jennifer Patchin wrote not too long ago, went something like this…”If you spend time with your children, and you know your children’s struggles and strengths, you won’t be nearly as surprised at their actions/responses when they are older.” I think that she was speaking specifically of her eldest daughter, but it really is true. If you know your kids and their struggles, then you will also know how to nurture their spririt and strengthen their frame. How often is it the teacher or neighbor that can see disaster in a kids life from a mile away, and the parent is clueless? Pretty often, sadly.
